We are a group of academic and education development specialists working in Africa, Asia and Europe. We came together in 2020 to research education policymaking in Ghana. Over the last years, our collaboration and the countries of our research focus has expanded into Kenya, Tanzania and Mexico.

Our vision is to work together, to serve as a model for enhancing cross border collaborative research and lesson learning.
Our mission
Our mission is to add to the understanding of how indigenous and western education pedagogies influence, and possibly transform, teaching and learning in the countries we work.
Our team
The TALAAB team is led by Dr Nozomi Sakata, who is an Associate Professor at Hiroshima University, with three members from different universities in Ghana, one colleague from Kenya, one from the University of London UK and one development specialist currently based in the UK. Dr Nozomi Sakata
Associate Professor in Education and International Development, Hiroshima University. Nozomi has played a lead role in international research on cultural influences and pedagogical practices and reforms.
Dr Hannah Edjah
A Lecturer at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. Hannah’s research interest lies in issues pertaining to curriculum and teaching, higher education and home economics education.
Mr Chris Yates
Previously a Lecturer in International Education at University College London, Institute of Education. Chris specialised in education in lower-income areas using open and distance education.
Dr Abraham Okrah
A Senior Lecturer in Education, University of Ghana, Legon. Abraham is a renowned expert in curriculum design, implementation and evaluation - from basic education to university levels.
Mr Eugene Adu Henaku
A Lecturer in the Department of Family Life Management Education, University of Education, Winneba. Eugene's research area sits in home economics and education, specifically in family studies.
Dr James Sankale
A Lecturer in Department of Social Sciences at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa. James has designed and developed teacher training systems in Kenya for the past 30 years and is currently actively involved in education and development research.
Dr Caroline Pontefract
A Team Leader of EU Education Project in Jordan. Caroline has led successful reform and education development programmes based in Africa, the Middle East and in Europe.
